DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our annual observance of International Overdose Awareness Day\, August 29\, 2023 at 6:15pm at Harbor Park in Marshfield\, MA. \nThe evening is planned in two parts; please join us for one or attend both: \nGather | 6:15pm\nGather at Harbor Park to explore resources for grief support and healing\, materials and activities for children impacted by substance use and overdose deaths\, and recovery resources. Narcan and training will be available.  Memorial stones will be provided for you to decorate and place under the Memorial Tree in memory of your loved one. Please take time to enjoy the beauty of the park and fellowship with others who truly understand! \nTogether We Can | 6:45pm\n\nAn uplifting and peaceful program\, including live music\, words of remembrance\, reflection and a candle lighting ceremony. We will rededicate the new Memorial Tree and add stones decorated that evening. Coming together as a community we will strive to end overdose\, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind. \n

SUMMARY:Teen in a Hoodie RSVP POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:Teen in a Hoodie is a two-day event for High School aged students.\nCould you help one of your friends faced with a tough decision? Of course you could!\nStudents will work with Master Grafitti Artists Jessica and Jay Mac to create a large canvas with the group\, depicting visuals that represent responses to social and emotional scenarios young people face and experiences with substances and mental health challenges.  The result will be a visual display for the community to see and hear the voices of young people. \nEach person will create their own graffiti canvas and individual messages that resonate will be displayed with the large canvas. \nOpen to all high school-aged students\, snacks and lunch will be provided.  Bring a friend\, or 2\, and please register all participants. \nThe canvas will be shared with the community during an unveiling reception at JPH at Ferry Hill in March (details available soon). \nBe prepared to attend on two days\, Monday (2/19) and Wednesday (2/21) from 1030am to 2:30pm\nSponsored by 24-Hour Power\, Mass Cultural Council\, and Marshfield FACTS

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our annual observance of International Overdose Awareness Day\, August 31\, 2023 from 6:30 to 7:45pm at Harbor Park in Marshfield\, MA.  Please note a rain date of September 1 is planned. \nThe evening is planned in two parts; please join us for one or attend both: \nGather | 6:30pm to 7:00pm\nMake a memorial stone for the Memorial Tree.  A little blue spruce was donated by Marshfield FACTS as an area to honor those lost to Overdose and Substance Use Disorder.  The peaceful and beautiful Harbor Park is an ideal spot to honor and remember loved ones lost. \nDedicate a Crane for Hope. The James P Harrington Foundation: The crane is a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times.    These cranes all carry handwritten notes of hope.  Vigil participants are invited to add names of loved ones to the project. \nExplore resources and talk with providers about grief\, resources\, and self-care  \nEnjoy the beauty and serenity of the park. Music will be provided. \nRecognize & Remember | 7:00pm to 7:45pm\n\nRecognizing First Responders\, Marshfield Police Department and Marshfield Fire Department. \n\n\n\nChiefs Tavares and Simpson will share a few words\nA Police Officer and Firefighter will speak on their perspectives\, experiences\, and response to the Substance Use Disorder crisis in Marshfield.\nA MFD Firefighter will also share his personal perspective\, including his experience of being part of a generation affected so significantly by SUD and Overdoses\n\n\n\nWords of Remembrance\, Inspiration\, and Music \nCandle Lighting Ceremony \n  \nMarshfield Town Green will be illuminated purple at sunset.
